A flickering brightness, a burning jewel in the lotus of the heart Samadhi Yoga Center opened the doors of its Capital Hill home just one year ago on March 26, 1999 for a sold-out concert with Krishna Das and his Band (on tour to record his 'Live on Earth' 2 CD album). Classes began on April 5th 1999. In this last year we have been so blessed with the presence of numerous, illustrious guests; not only the countless, bright souls attending asana classes but concerts, lectures, workshops and 'satsangs' with Bhagavan Das, David Hykes Harmonic Chant, Dr. Robert Svoboda (Lecture on Tantra), Jivamukti's Tripura Sundari and Deva Das, and the sweet 'Ma's' Sri Karunamayi and Shree Ma (accompanied by the rappin' Swami). Our resident Dakini dance company, the Samadhi Yoginis performed with the band Hana in a benefit concert hosted for a Zen Monastery on Whidbey Island. Also on the bill were didjeridoo player Stuart Dempster, trombonist Greg Powers and a Butoh dance duo of Ed Byrne and Consuelo Gonzales. The exquisite, calligraphy scrolls by Zen Master Shodo Hirada Roshi adorned our walls. The Yoginis performed in March 2000 for their second year in a row at Positive Yoga.

Thanks to the generous support of so many kind, Karma yogis (yogis who perform selfless service) we are growing to fulfill our mission of providing a spiritual/cultural home and resource center for yogis to practice together and experience the support of a community or Satsang (gathering together of like-minded seekers of truth). Flame is yet another form of expression in the art of Yoga. We open this up as a forum for unveiling awareness of our unlimited spiritual nature.
