a carefully established and well thought out forum
a guidance toward self discipline
self-discipling.
a seat. a posture.
a position.
a place from where to watch yourself
becoming grounded
assimilating strength and flexibility
essential for ascending
the illusion that this world is.
obtaining the strength and flexibility
that detachment requires.
a way to focus your mind
.. . . . . .so easily distracted
by the senses
and their pull
Time's tug of war. . . . . .
a search for the present
takes constant practice.
asana is a good habit.
creating a clean habitat.
here we are,
born
to a physical plane
we manifest bodies,
crystallizations of ourselves!
What a gift!
these instruments that we have to work with!
looking for a way through
these bodies
that we see as us and ours
are guaranteed to be
HERE and NOW
...until they're not.
and so through these bodies
we can find the present moment
where eternity eternally exists.
the cure for impermanence.
Life
is a devotional practice
and it's up to us to decide
who what when where why
to devote our practice.
thinking of ourselves
as bodies
with brains,
five senses physical,
we expose ourselves
to the influences
of nature
become buried
and swept away.
through asana we put our bodies into
positions
previously thought of as uncomfortable or
impossible
learn to find the calmness there.
heightening sense of awareness
challenging our steadiness
through controlling the breath
as we increase the difficulty of the position
freeing ourselves of the dangers
of the comfort zone
overcoming the detrimental effect
that gravity has on weight bearing substance.
attempting to balance
all that we have been
conditioned to see
as duality.
in asana we distribute the attention
to every fibrous muscle and unbendable bone,
pinky soft tissue
and the cells that swim it all together...
through concentration
we urge our minds
to focus on the action of the body
to come inside the temple and rest
the work becomes internalized
and we free ourselves to see
the perfect harmony that this universe is made of
microcosmically exemplified
within our self
within the tangible example.
the practice of asana leads us
through the body
to the core of our being
shows us to becoming centered in ourselves
The challenge is in meeting God
face to face
and recognizing that you are not your face
but graced to be bearing witness
to God's face meeting God's face.
the practice of asana
patiently prepares us
kindly seats us,
postures us,
perfectly positions us
to reflect Divinity
clearly.
an asana is an offering of Thank You
for the experience of being
in a body.
a statement about surrender.
through consistent practice of asana
we position ourselves
consciously
arranging the place
that our perspective will be
coming from.
