Samadhi Yoga Teacher Training Course 2006-07

The Samadhi TTC was begun in 1998 and over that time has trained over 100 graduates, many of whom have evolved into inspired teachers, sought after for their unique methods of sharing the illuminating teachings of yoga.
Certification:
Our program meets the National Educational Standards and is registered with the Yoga Alliance. Graduates at completion of this seven month long course are eligible to be certified at the 200 hour level with the Yoga Alliance Registry.
Meeting Dates:
October 18, 2006– April 30, 2007
Weekdays: Monday and Wednesdays 1:45-4:15pm
Except no meetings on 12/21/06-1/1/07, 3/26-3/28/07
In addition there are a total of 7 weekend seminars meeting once per month on Saturday 2:10-6:10pm and Sunday 12:45-4:45pm on 10/28+29, 11/11 +12, 12/9 + 10, 1/13+ 14, 2/10 + 11, 3/10 +11, and 3/26 + 3/28.
Instructors: Kathleen Hunt, Patricia Hammerle, Jille Celeste, Veronica D’Orazio, Yvonne Croteau, Steven Davis, Eiric Ovrid, Douglas Ridings, Annette Romano and special guest teachers.
Material Covered:
Over 200 hours of instruction and practice in Asana, Pranayama, Meditation, Yoga Philosophy and Scriptures, Practical Anatomy/Physiology, Hands-on Adjustments, Sanskrit Mantra, Self-study (Swadyaya), the Art of Teaching and the meaning of Yoga and Community (Satsang). This program gives students a solid foundation in the Philosophy of Hatha Yoga according to Patanjali’s eightfold path and the teaching skills for passing on this ancient art.

($3,300 if paid in full on or before Sept. 1)

Tuition includes all instruction, unlimited asana classes at Samadhi during the training period and private sessions with an assigned mentor. The cost of books on the reading list is not included (a reading list is available early upon request). For those who already have an unlimited Samadhi Yoga membership the course fee will be adjusted accordingly. A $150 non-refundable deposit towards the full tuition is due with your application to reserve your place. If you are not accepted into the program your deposit will be returned. There are no refunds on tuition after the training has begun.

Requirements:
We ask that you have had at least two years of dedicated yoga practice including a daily asana practice during that time. Students must have a sincere desire to deepen their own knowledge and practice and a wish to share that knowledge through teaching others. We also welcome students who do not necessarily want to become teachers.
The course includes much outside reading, writing and practice so we ask that you come with the time and willingness to immerse yourself in study during these seven months.

Bios:
Kathleen Hunt began teaching dance classes in 1983 and has been teaching yoga since 1987. After earning a BA in Dance from the University of Washington she studied in Seattle with Marie Svoboda and Aadil Palkhivala and other outstanding Iyengar teachers. In NYC she studied with Dharma Mitra, in the Catskills at the Sivananda Ashram, and with Sri K. Patabhi Jois.
She has also studied in the Kundalini and Jivamukti traditions. Hunt opened Samadhi Yoga Center on Capital Hill with her husband Steve Davis in April 1999. Her extensive experience in dance performance, choreography, improvisation as well as Native American Shamanism all helped shape her innovative vinyasa yoga technique and teaching method.
Patti Hammerle holds a degree in Comparative Religion from the University of Washington. Her studies encompass Hindi, Sanskrit Language and Literature, Yoga and Dance. Patti has taught Hindi at the Univ. of Washington and also teaches Hindi and Sanskrit at the Seattle Language Academy and privately. She has had the honor of being asked to translate a Hindu religious text and assist in the Sanskrit editing of Salvatore Zambito’s upcoming book on the Yoga Sutra of Patanjali. Patti has been to India numerous times for study and continues to travel there often, leading groups on spiritual excursions. Patti is a rich resource for students in the study of the philosophical and historical aspects of yoga and shares the secrets of integrating it with the more physical practices.
